I am grateful to Mr. Peter Shepherd for allowing me to repost his inspiring quotes of the week to this site. Hence, I decided that every Sunday, I will share this to you to inspire you throughout the week. Here you go…
“Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.” ~ Helen Keller
It all starts from within, from what we decide to focus on… the pain or the hope, the fear or the love, the chaos or the harmony. As the proverb says, “Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors.”
“Difficulties are things that show a person who they are.” ~ Epictetus
When things aren’t easy or obvious, your motivation is tested and you find out if you’re capable of understanding the situation and coming up with a creative solution. As Samuel Smiles said, “He that never made a mistake never made a discovery.”
“He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else.” ~Benjamin Franklin
A sincere sense of responsibility is what separates the achiever and the leader from the also rans.
“Never throughout history has a man who lived a life of ease left a name worth remembering.” ~ Theodore Roosevelt
You will meet failure and disappointment, these are inevitable steps on the ladder towards where you’re going. Don’t take it personally. These are an opportunity to build character, to pick yourself up and find a better way. Just accept, and learn, grow and adapt, open your mind, and focus again on the vision that inspires your heart. As Eric Hoffer said, “It is often the failure who is the pioneer in new lands, new undertakings, and new forms of expression.”
“It’s better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission.” ~ Grace Hopper
Sometimes you have to be forceful, to do what’s necessary. It’s not about abusing situations but about knowing when to push the boundaries, taking responsibility for a decision, to go ahead and do what you feel is right. Your integrity depends on that. If it turns out you were wrong, then apologize.
